Save the Tennis Courts at Ala Moana!

The USTA opposes the conversion of Tennis courts into Pickleball courts at Ala Moana Regional Park

The USTA also opposes the addition of Pickleball lines on tennis courts at Ala Moana Regional Park.

Ala Moana Regional Park is one the most highly utilized tennis facilities in the State of Hawaii.

Tennis in Hawaii continues to grow! Tennis participation in Hawaii increased by 18% in 2023 and 10% of the Hawaii population plays tennis.

The City and County of Honolulu Department of Parks and Recreation website states that there are 197 pickleball courts at 95 parks and 36 dedicated pickleball courts in Honolulu.

The conflict between pickleball and tennis is partly the result of taking away tennis courts at busy tennis facilities and converting them to pickleball courts.

The USTA continues to advocate for the City to build new pickleball courts and to convert underutilized courts to pickleball courts

The USTA opposes taking highly utilized tennis courts, like Ala Moana Regional Park, and converting them to pickleball courts.

If you agree with the USTA position, please contact Mayor Rick Blangiardi and voice your concern.
